In a video that has gone viral on social media, Ahmed is seen charging from behind without any weapon, tackling one of the gunmen, wrestling away a firearm, and forcing the attacker to the ground. His courageous action is believed to have prevented further loss of life amid scenes of panic and chaos.

Ahmed, who works as a fruit vendor in the Bondi area, is reported to have no military background or firearms training. Despite this, he chose to intervene when he realised that lives were in immediate danger.
As a result of his actions, Ahmed sustained two gunshot wounds and is currently receiving intensive medical treatment at a Sydney hospital. Hospital authorities have confirmed that his condition is stable.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese publicly praised Ahmed’s bravery, describing him as a “hero”. According to Albanese, Ahmed’s actions exemplify the values of courage, humanity, and solidarity that Australia stands for.

The mass shooting claimed the lives of at least 15 people and injured around 40 others, including children. The attack occurred during a Jewish community event, “Hanukkah By the Sea,” which was attended by hundreds of people at Bondi Beach.
Australian police have officially classified the incident as an act of terrorism. Authorities confirmed that two attackers were involved, with one shot dead during a gunfight with police and the other apprehended in critical condition.
In response, the Australian Government has established a national security committee to review public event safety protocols and strengthen preventive measures against future attacks. Security has also been heightened at places of worship and public gatherings nationwide.
