BENGKULU.WAHANANEWS.CO, Washington DC – United States President Donald Trump has praised Ahmed el Ahmed, an Australian civilian who bravely disarmed a gunman with his bare hands during the mass shooting at Bondi Beach, Sydney, on Sunday (14 December).
Trump described Ahmed as “a very, very brave person” and said his actions helped save many lives amid what he called a horrifying situation.

“There was somebody very, very brave who moved in and directly took down one of the shooters and saved a lot of lives,” Trump said in a statement, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald on Monday (15 December 2025).
Ahmed’s heroic actions were captured on video and quickly went viral on social media, showing him running from behind, seizing the firearm from the attacker, and forcing him to the ground despite being unarmed.
Trump also paid tribute to Ahmed’s personal sacrifice, noting that he is currently recovering in hospital.

“This very brave individual is now in hospital, seriously injured. So, great respect to the person who did that,” Trump added.
The mass shooting at Bondi Beach left at least 16 people dead and dozens more injured. The attack occurred during a Jewish community event and has been officially classified by Australian authorities as an act of terrorism.
Ahmed sustained two gunshot wounds to his upper left shoulder while confronting the attacker alone. He has since undergone surgery and is reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital.
